What Data We Collect and Process

Input Text

Collection: When you submit text for conversion, it is temporarily held in server memory during processing.

Storage: Your input text is NOT stored in our database.

Retention: Text is discarded immediately after audio generation completes.

Purpose: Used solely to generate the audio file you requested.

Generated Audio Files

Collection: MP3 audio files are generated based on your text input and voice selection.

Storage: Audio files are temporarily stored on our servers with a unique download link.

Retention: All audio files are automatically deleted within 24 hours of generation.

Access: Only you have access to the download link. Links are not publicly listed or indexed by search engines.

Usage Metadata

For registered users, we track:

  • Generation count: Number of text-to-speech conversions performed
  • Voice selection: Which voices you used (for analytics, not linked to text content)
  • Timestamp: When conversions were performed
  • Session ID: For anonymous users, a temporary session identifier

Purpose: Usage tracking helps us manage free trial limits and improve service performance.

Technical Data

Standard web server logs may include:

  • IP address (anonymized after 7 days)
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type (desktop/mobile)
  • Page load times

Purpose: Technical diagnostics, security monitoring, and service optimization.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Text-to-Speech API Provider

FastlyConvert uses a third-party TTS API (OpenAI TTS) to generate audio. Your input text is sent to this API for processing.

Provider commitment: According to OpenAI's API policy, data submitted via API is not used to train models and is deleted after processing.

Encryption: All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS.

No Sale of Data

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our service. Analytics data is anonymized and does not include your text content or audio files.

Free Trial Tracking

TL;DR: We only count how many times you convert (not what you converted). Session-based for guests, account-based for registered users.

To provide the free trial (3 conversions for new users + 3 after signup), we track:

  • Anonymous users: Conversion count linked to browser session (cleared when you close browser or clear cookies)
  • Registered users: Conversion count stored in your account

Note: Trial tracking does NOT record what text you converted—only that a conversion occurred.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for:

  • Authentication: Keeping you logged in (if registered)
  • Session tracking: Managing free trial limits for anonymous users
  • Preferences: Remembering voice selection and speed settings
